Movie Review: `Escape Plan` is strictly for Arnold and Sylvester fans
The two action heroes are back together in "Escape Plan" with energetic performances and Arnold and Sylvester are getting better with age. Sylvester (Ray Bresnin) is a security expert whose job is to get into secure prisons around the world and escape from there, in order to gauge the security measures of the prison concerned.

As the premise of Escape Plan unfurls, Ray is assigned with another assignment by CIA, of escaping from a prison which is considered to be one of the best when it comes to security.

After initial abhorrence, Ray takes up the task because of the huge remuneration for the work. However, when he gets into it his antics and his experience fails him, it becomes simply impossible for him to get out of that prison. The escapist decides to give up this time as it is not an easy task for him. However, fate is not on his side. As a last resort, he then teams up with his prison mate Swan Rotmayyer (Arnold) who is in early 60s and they hatch a master plan to escape the prison. So do they succeed or spend rest of their lives in the prison, go check out "Escape Plan".

The casting is perfect as the two heroes share a great screen presence together. However, a lot could have been done with the film as the two legends were together on screen.

With a high dose of over the top action, Escape Plan is an action packed two hour engrossing journey as the experienced director in Mikael Hafstrom knows his job pretty well. One expects some great action due to the high profile actors but this is one important area which is felt wanting. The first half of the film is a bit slow but is catches up well in the in the post interval part. A decent job done by Miles Chapman on screenplay but it could have been better.

All in all a decent production with a bit of loose ends; but electric performances by the action heroes is sure to watch out for. Warden's (Jim Caviziel) performance is a memorable one. I think the director knew what he wanted from him.

Singh Saab The Great: Sunny Deol doesn’t believe in hectic film promotion

Makers to cast new faces for 'Milan Talkies'?

Makers to cast new faces for `Milan Talkies`?

After A-list actors left them high and dry, the makers of an upcoming film settle to cast rank newbies

The makers of the upcoming film 'Milan Talkies' have had some problems convincing their lead actors to stay put with the project. Sources say to tide over their problems, the makers have now decided to rope in newcomers to cast in the film.

Initially Imran Khan was said to star in the film but was replaced soon after by Shahid Kapoor, which apparently prompted Priyanka Chopra to stage a walk-out. Sasha too left soon after. Shraddha Kapoor was also approached but she too bid farewell to the movie. Then there was buzz about Varun Dhawan being considered for the film.

Says a source, `Tired of all this, the makers are now considering casting fresh faces or an actor who is comfortable working opposite a new actress.` Insiders say model-turned-actress Pooja Hegde has been approached to step into the female lead's shoes. `But nothing has been finalised,` adds the source. While producer Ekta Kapoor remained unavailable for comment, the CEO of the production house, Tanuj Garg denied the buzz.

Look who is Yaami's source of inspiration?

Look who is Yaami`s source of inspiration?

Yaami Gautam's look in her latest commercial for an automobile has been inspired by American actress Zooey Deschanel's character, Jess, in the sitcom, New Girl

The Vicky Donor actress is a fan of the US show. Apparently Yaami's pals keep telling her that her personal quirkiness reminds them of Zooey's character.

The style of Yaami's dress in the commercial, which is an inverted pleat with a slim waistband, bears a striking resemblance with that of Zooey's in the award-winning sitcom.

Says a source, `When Yaami bagged the ad deal, she told the makers to consider Zooey's look as a reference for the shoot. In fact, she was so convinced about it that she walked into their office in a dress with floral appliques just like Zooey. The team saw her in that look and knew that this is what they wanted.`

When asked about Yaami's Zooey inspiration, the stylist Sanjana Batra says, `Yes, Yaami wanted to take elements from Zooey's character. She loves the show and Jess's character so much. I showcased the fun and quirky side of the character in Yaami's styling.`

Bang Bang with Katrina is completely different from Krrish 3: Hrithik Roshan

Bang Bang with Katrina is completely different from Krrish 3: Hrithik Roshan

Despite his physical ailments, he managed to pull off 85 days of action- filled sequences for 'Krrish 3'. The actor believes having the right attitude helped him overcome all the challenges

When Hrithik Roshan enters the room, he has a discernable twinkle in his eyes. The first thing he asks us is, `So what are we going to talk about today?` We reply, 'Krrish 3' and he smiles, 'Surprising!'

With one of his most awaited films up for release, the actor is going all out to ensure that his hard work pays off. Hrithik talks about the personal and professional obstacles he has overcome, his rapport with his father and rumours surrounding his marriage. Excerpts from an interview:

You developed a back problem some years ago; then your knees ached and recently, you underwent brain surgery. How did you find the strength to overcome these challenges?
Life is not about holding the best cards; it's about how well you play the cards that you have. So I wasn't given the best cards (shrugs) but I had some good cards and I played them well. When I look back and join the dots, I realise that every single time I thought ' I can't go on', I was victorious when I tried. Life will knock you down; the only thing you have in your hand is your attitude.

Even Krrish 3 has finally taken shape after several hurdles and years.
Yes, but it feels absolutely amazing now that it is ready! In this film there have been more ups and downs because we chose to challenge ourselves.

It's the kind of film that seemed impossible in terms of budget and shooting logistics when we started. And when the shoot was scheduled to start, I had a double slip disc in my back and the doctor said you should not do any action film for the rest of your life.

For two months on the sets I was an assistant - putting the costume on for Vivek Oberoi, enacting scenes for the mutants, controlling the lights. But every struggle leads to courage; it leads to finding the power inside you.

How did you manage the tough action sequences in the film?
Every single time I wore the jacket I felt like I was unstoppable and unbreakable. I went through 85 days of action. Science told me it's impossible, but I did something which made me realise anything is possible in life. After that I did a lot of research to solve my problems because my knees, back, shoulders - everything was broken. I was like Humpty Dumpty and put myself back together again.

This is your fourth film with your father, director Rakesh Roshan. How has your equation hanged over the years?
The assistant inside me is still alive. Our equation has not changed; it's just evolved. There is more respect. Dad is an absolute inspiration and such a gifted filmmaker. Working with my father again is like a dream come true.

How did you and your father manage to shoot the special effects?
Krrish 3 is our first fully homegrown high- budget VFX superhero musical extravaganza. This is our first full- fledged super hero film, with a super villain who has a team of 'manwers' (man plus janwar ).

I am just as excited as a child to have a Frogman, and a Cheetah Girl in the film. I am very proud that my father decided that he wants this film to be done by Indians because of the motivation our artistes will get. After this the world will open up. I am happy that we have something now in our cinema that we can present on a world platform as Indians.

Do you think Vivek Oberoi makes a threatening villain?
Vivek is one of the best actors and a complete team player. When we thought of casting Kaal's character, I had two names - myself and Vivek, They didn't allow me so it was just Vivek. He has the intensity.

After a long time you are shooting two films at a time. You are also doing Bang Bang with Katrina Kaif.
Bang Bang is going to be completely different from Krrish 3 ; and that's how I like it. I love bouncing off from one genre to the other so that there is no monotony in life. The film is loosely based on the Hollywood film Knight And Day, but takes a different look at things. There will be plenty of action and romance to keep everyone happy!

Of late, there have been rumours about discord in your marriage. How do you react?
You should know the truth about yourself. You should keep your head up, look at the stars and walk. Let people say what they want because eventually the truth will come out.

So how has Sussanne supported you through these highs and lows?
I will tell you her reaction to Krrish 3 - she said it's the best film that I have ever done. Since she is my biggest critic, that's the best reaction I have got. If Sussanne was not there in my life, I don't think I would have been an actor.byy..santa banta news network..

I am both confident and shy: Priyanka Chopra

I am both confident and shy: Priyanka Chopra

Singing and acting - that's where Priyanka Chopra's heart is. Sreya Basu in conversation with the actress in Mumbai as she talks about making music, Krrish and her style statement

Can anybody make music?
Yes, absolutely. I think anybody can make music if you do it with your heart. I started loving music since I was a kid. Both my mom (Madhu Chopra) and dad (Ashok Chopra) were very fond of music. So they too influenced me while I was growing up. Slowly I started making tunes in my head.

Will you sing for any of your contemporary actresses given a chance?
I think it will be really cool if I can sing for some other actress now, because I am a singer too professionally. But my voice is very distinct, so I think it will be too much of a disparity. However, it doesn't depend on actors but songs. I love to sing. So if there is a good song, I can sing for any of my contemporary actresses.

How will you describe yourself as a person?
I am both confident and shy.

Do you ever feel jealous?
I am not a jealous kind of a person. I may have admired other people's style. If somebody dresses up well, I may turn around and say: `Wow, that's great!` May be I will also try to stitch up things in a similar way. But I don't get jealous because I like myself, I am okay with who I am.

What are your expectations from your upcoming film Krrish 3?
Krrish is such a franchise where I have been a part of two of its three films (Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish and Krrish 3). It's something kids love, a film which you can go and see with your families.

Now-a-days we have very few films which we can go and watch with our in-laws, grandparents ... entire family. It's Diwali time. So I really hope the film will do well. As a team we are very excited about it and promoting it in every way that we can.

Given a chance, will you act in a Hollywood film?
I don't make plans. Even my music was not a plan. I consider myself as an actor. As long as it's a fun part it does not matter whether the film is being made in Hindi, English, Punjabi or Tamil. I don't keep telling myself that I will have to go to Hollywood and get famous there.

What are your priorities at present?
Right now, I am focusing on my music and my movies. Wherever my music and movies take me, I will go there.

What is your style statement?
Style is the reflection of a person's personality. I like a lot of structured clothes. I like stuffs that accentuate my body and colours that bring up my complexion. However, primarily I look for comfort. On day-to-day basis, I am a jeans and T-shirt person.

Were you always conscious about how you look?
No. I became more conscious about what I wear and how I look after becoming an actor. However, I always loved to look nice and pretty.

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein!: Esha Gupta and Imran Khan groove to ‘Dhat Teri Ki’

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein!: Esha Gupta and Imran Khan groove to ‘Dhat Teri Ki’

DHAT TERI KI
, SINGS IMRAN

Here comes the new song from Dharma Productions’ Gori Tere Pyaar Mein!, and this time it’s not Kareena Kapoor but Esha Gupta who gets to groove with the chocolate boy Imran Khan.

The song Dhat Teri Ki featuring the siren Esha Gupta and Imran Khan is out. Composed by Vishal Dadlani, the song is sung by Sanam Puri and Aditi Singh Sharma. As Dharma Productions is known for its musical hits, is Dhat Teri Ki chartbuster material?

The peppy party track serves as the introduction to Sriram, Imran’s character, who is a rebel and will enjoy his life as he wishes. So, there’s no way he’s leaving the party and going home. The lyrics of the song Dhat Teri Ki..Ghar Nai Jaana makes that explicit.

Being a party animal Imran makes the most of partying with Esha Gupta, who looks absolutely stunning in the song. A look at the song, the audience may compare Dhat Teri Ki with the I Hate Luv Storys item track that had Imran shaking a leg with Bruna Abdullah. We found the latter much better!

Nevertheless, the song’s setting is breathtaking. Fancy partying at the discotheque terrace of a high-rise building! What fun! byy apun ka choice.

Newsbreak: Salman may leave 'Bigg Boss'

Newsbreak: Salman may leave `Bigg Boss`
With every passing episode of reality show "Bigg Boss Season 7" drama and gimmicks seems to be getting even nastier. So far we have seen only the contestants getting embroiled in all this, but now it looks like these grievous incidents have even left show's host Salman woebegone.

If recent reports are to be believed then Salman who had been the face of "Bigg Boss" from past so many seasons may quit it after season 7.

Reports from the sources further suggest that Salman has started thinking over quitting the "Bigg Boss" after season 7 and this will of the "Dabangg" of Bollywood has got revealed only after a recent nasty fight between Tanisha and Kushal over a task, post which Salman took a stance for Tanisha and slammed Kushal.

While slamming Kushal, Salman clearly exhibited his annoyance over the incident where Kushal poured various things like detergent and dirt inside the box where Tanisha was sitting during a task and described Kushal's act as indecent and intolerable.

It will be interesting to know that ever-since Tanisha has made it to Bigg Boss house, Salman has often been blamed for being biased towards her, because of latter's proximity with Ajay Devgn who is Tanisha's brother-in-law.

Probably it will be to early to prophesies about Salman's leaving the "Bigg Boss" after season 7, but as far as we know this Dabangg of Bollywood then all we can say about him is that, "Bhai ne ek bar jo commitment kar di uske baad...."byy santa banta news network..

Will Hrithik Roshan appear on Salman Khan’s show?

Mending fences! Will Hrithik Roshan promote ‘Krrish 3’ on Salman Khan’s show?

Will Hrithik Roshan appear on Salman Khan’s show?
There is a strong buzz that Salman Khan’s show Bigg Boss 7 might soon have Hrithik Roshan promoting his film Krrish 3.

As many of you already know, the two stars don’t share a great rapport, especially after their verbal spat post the release of Hrithik’s Guzaarish.

It’s learnt that Salman Khan is set to host Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan on the sets of his reality show, Bigg Boss 7. While Priyanka has confirmed her presence on the show, we hear Hrithik is yet to give his nod.

How did Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan have a falling-out? Post the release ofGuzaarish, Salman Khan made a mocking remark on a scene in the movie and apparently poked fun at Sanjay Leela Bhansali as well. Hrithik Roshan then retorted, saying, “It’s not heroic to laugh or make fun of a filmmaker. In my opinion, a hero never gloats. When you are super successful, it should in fact make you more gracious and loving.”

However, later on the two even met at Salman’s residence in 2011 when the superstar was about to leave for the US to undergo treatment for his nerve disorder.

If Hrithik ROshan makes an appearance on Bigg Boss 7, it could mark the new beginning for the two stars. The latter had even physically trained the former.

Kangana Ranaut, who is one of the lead actresses of Krrish 3, already appeared on Bigg Boss 7 last week. by..apun ka choice.

Movie Review: 'Mickey Virus' is lovable but could have been better

Movie Review: `Mickey Virus` is lovable but could have been better
Star Cast: Manish Paul, Elli Avram, Manish Chaudhary, Varun Bandola, Puja Gupta, Vikesh Kumar, Nitesh Pandey

Director: Saurabh Varma

Rating: **1/2

Well finally it's once again proved that the thumb rule that, only big budget movies or the ones studded with glittering star-cast, own the potency to charm the masses, doesn't hold true any more. Featuring Manish Paul, Elle Avram, Manish Chaudhary, Varun Bandola, Nitesh Pandey et al cine saga with its roots embedded in virtual world made it's way to cineplexes. This comic techno-thriller received a bleak response at its opening and could only invite a foot-fall of approximately 4 percent due to some very obvious reasons.

Mickey Virus primarily narrates the story of a Delhi based sloppy "computer ka kidaa" Mickey (Manish Paul) who in the days hours sits in his Poppi's (mom's) grocery shop, selling those wafers and biscuits whereas at night his main job is to develop computer viruses and provide hacking solutions to those in need of them, and to perform these notorious yet non-hazardous activities he has his own band of hacker pals comprising Chutney (Puja Gupta), Pancho (Vikesh Kumar) and Floppy (Raghav Kakar). All was going fine for Mickey and his gang of pals till the time Mickey has a rendezvous ACP Siddanth (Manish Singh) and Inspector Bhalla (Vrun Badola) who in order to hunt down a gang of hackers which operates online decides to hire a street smart hacker.

Before going into the details of Mickey Virus' script it is pertinent to mention here that ever-since the release of "Vicky Donor" our Bollywooders seems to have become more courageous in trying their hands on off beat yet interesting story-lines and undoubtedly "Mickey Virus" is the one belonging to the ilk, where scriptwriter has quite praise-worthily tried to bank upon the novel story ideas pertaining to virtual world. Although Mickey Virus shares not even a single point of reference with the former but the novelty of premise, dialect and the milieu where story has its base certainly reminds you of Shoojit Sircar's masterpiece.

Anyhow getting back to the Mickey Virus, belonging to comic thriller genre primarily pertaining to the world of hackers "Mickey Virus" can safely be called an out-of-the box cine delight for the cine enthusiasts residing in this part of the world. With a sound dose of humor and thrill, "Micky Virus" is a fine blend of number of rib tickling and on-the-edge-of-the-seat moments.

Despite being a first timer scribe Saurab Varma seemed to be well versed with the story-line and has quite confidently dealt with the entire plot of "Micky Virus".

As we all know that till this age of Indian cinema despite many attempts seldom a full fledged cine chronicle has been developed on theme of "hacking." Although we got many opportunities to see their titbit appearances in many sci-fi sagas. But "Micky Virus" does a thorough justice to its theme and never makes you feel psychologically tired while watching it and for this all credit goes to movie's director and script writer Saurab Varma, who quite conveniently assorted mild humor along with thrill and that too without leaving much scope for practicability. As stated that first half of the movie is solely dedicated to some light moments, but on the other side of the loo-break lies a thrilling and gripping story line which keeps your attention glued to the celluloid.

With a nicely tailored script screenplay of "Micky Virus" acts like a cherry on the cake, where first half of Micky Virus showcases Micky and his don't give it damn attitude, the second half altogether leaps into different shade i.e of thrill. Glued together both these halves make "Mickey Virus" at-least a sensible and watchable tale.

Lingo used in the movie typically signify the Delhite dialect, which up-till an extent magnifies the appeal of the dialogues, but counting them as something thoroughly captivating will be wrong.

In performance arena, Manish has thoroughly embraced his character and has performed his part with quite an ease. In a short yet sassy role even Elle has looked effortless and lovable, but the men who deserves the major part of "accolade cookie" are Manish Chaudhary and Varun Badola who not only perform there respective roles with thorough confidence but also keep you enthralled with their expressiveness. Nitesh Pandey along with Puja Gupta is just fine.

Music of Mickey Virus with songs like Pyaar China Ka Maal has already occupied some space in the iPad and lappi's of Youngistan.

As far as BO potential of "Mickey Virus" is concerned then certainly it is not going to earn much at the ticket window and may end up being an average grosser. To sum up, if you can feel satiated with a mild dose of humor and thrill with its roots embedded in a novel story-line then you should get infected with Mickey Virus.by santabanta news network..

The 'cause' and effect relationship in B-Town

The `cause` and effect relationship in B-Town

Be it for publicity or otherwise, some Bollywood actors have been very active in spreading social awareness

If change begins with oneself, then Bollywood actors really know where to start. After all, a majority of them are seen getting associated with programmes that deal with issues in the society every now and then. It's difficult to gauge every individual's commitment to their respective crusades but it's a healthy change from the times when actors stuck to what they were good at: acting.

With Juhi Chawla voicing her concerns against harmful effects of radiation from the mobile phones and towers, it's quite evident that one doesn't have to be a rebel to have a cause. Here's taking a look at a few of the B-Town folks and their 'work' outside their work...

Catfights no laughing matter: Priyanka Chopra

Catfights no laughing matter: Priyanka Chopra
Thursday, October 24, 2013 11:00 IST
For many, talk about catfights on film sets makes great fodder for gossip, but for actress Priyanka Chopra, who has been facing a volley of questions about her camaraderie with her "Krrish 3" co-star Kangana Ranaut, it's no laughing matter.

"It really upsets me how people reduce women's stature in a movie that the focus only remains on how she fought with her female co-star, " Priyanka said here Wednesday in response to a question about a catfight.

"Nobody asks the men that. Nobody says how Hrithik (Roshan) or Vivek (Oberoi) would have fought. A lot of people find it funny and laugh about it, but I take it very seriously, " added the actress, who is working with Kangana for the second time after "Fashion".

She claims they gel well.

"Kangana and I have worked in the past on a film ('Fashion'), which I believe has been a turning point in our respective careers. We get along very well."

Kangana, who was present at the press conference for the promotion of "Krrish 3" here, said: "I agree with Priyanka. We are here, promoting the film together and there is no problem between us. We are not kids that we will fight on sets."

The press conference was also addressed by filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik Roshan and Vivek Oberoi. Their superhero movie releases Nov 1.

I am a very shy person: Shah Rukh Khan

I am a very shy person: Shah Rukh Khan

With his latest film Chennai Express crossing the Rs. 200-crore mark, Shah Rukh Khan is the hottest marketing guru in Bollywood. Sreya Basu chats up with the superstar in Mumbai on marketing of films and why he doesn't expose much on screen

Why is that your movies have too many brandings
There are two reasons for this. One, I have been working for the last 22 years and somewhere there is a deep bonding and friendship between me and the brands I endorse.

For example, I am with Hyundai Motors for the last 15 years, I am endorsing Lux for the past 5-6 years... there are other brands also with whom I am associated with for the past 10, 12, 14 and even 20 years. So there is friendship and when working together, we want that we benefit each other some way or the other, advertisement wise, publicity wise.

So this is why my films have too many brandings. Second, my office makes sure that we give maximum value for money if someone gets attached to us. But we don't put brands in our films just so that we can earn some money.

Most of the time we don't even take money. It's actually advertising together. Also, it is the demand of today's time.

Is it said that you are the marketing guru of all your films.
Well, though I take all the credit, it's my office that works on it. I have no understanding of marketing strategies. I just try to make good films and share it happily with everyone.

What is your opinion on the kind of business our films are doing today?
There are so many platforms for releasing a film these days. Even if we don't want, information about a film reaches everybody in minutes.

So it is only a natural scheme of things that there won't be 100 days, silver jubilees or golden jubilees and business will shrink in lesser period of time.

Also number of theatres has increased 10-15 times since Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). I think the business remains same, only the results are out faster. Also the enjoyment while watching a hit film remains same.

What is your take on the Rs. 100-crore clubs?
I am a little in disagreement to the numbers thrown. There are too many analysis and too many information about a particular film available online. The idea is to choose the right one so that the right film gets the credit it deserves.

For me, I can feel a hit film in the air. I don't need analysis or numbers to know if my film is a hit. You can feel it in the roaring of people inside a theatre, they keep calling you by the name of your character ... there are vibes that I can feel and have been feeling for the last 22 years in business.

Why is that we don't see you taking off your shirt and flaunting your muscles that often?
I am personally a very shy person. I feel a little shy if I am asked to take off my shirt and give a shot. I do it for the sake of my profession like in Dard-e-Disco (song from 2007 film Om Shanti Om) and in a few others. But I feel uncomfortable taking my shirt off, especially in front of women.

Celebs who messed up with religious authorities

Celebs who messed up with religious authorities
Thursday, October 24, 2013 13:26 IST
Bollywood is replete with the stories of celebrities rubbing the authorities or the establishment on the wrong side. Very recently singer Rihana was shown the door by a mosque in Abu Dhabi on the charge of unbecoming behavior which rebelled against the moral code of conduct. There are other celebrities who got into trouble at the religious places.

For instance Katrina Kaif, during the shooting of Namaste London in 2007, wore a frock at Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti's dargah in Ajmer. Her creme colour dress that ended well above her knees brought her an instant backlash, and saw her beating a hasty retreat out of the dargah premises.

When Himesh Reshammiya visited the Ajmer Sharif dargah it was as uncommon as it gets. In June 2008, Reshammiya visited the dargah in a burqa. While he had done it to avoid attention, once people got wind of him in a burqa, he attracted all the attention, and obviously for all the wrong reasons.by santa banta news network..
