Indra Kumar’s unapologetic, over-the-top sex comedy Grand Masti is romping to glory at the box office. The film has become the fourth highest opener of the year 2013.
Though panned by many critics for its sexist double-entendres and bawdy humour, the film starring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and a host of actresses, opened to a terrific audience response of 65 percent to 70 percent at ticket windows on Friday. The film fared exceptionally well in Rajasthan.
The first day collection of Grand Masti stands at a whopping Rs. 12.5 crore net, which is the fourth highest of the year 2013 after Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Race 2.
The writing is on the wall. Though the film may have offended some critics, it’s being lapped up by the audiences. If the Friday’s footfalls are bettered on Saturday and Sunday, expect to see the opening weekend figures of Grand Masti in the range of Rs. 35 crore to Rs. 40 crore net, if not more. from apun ka choice. |
