The two new releases of the week, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero and The Lunchboxopened to a strictly average response at the box office.
Starring Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero managed to mint just Rs. 6 crore net approximately on its first day at the box office. The figure is clearly below the mark as an opening of around 10 crore (give and take a crore or two) is usually deemed par for the course if the film is to have a decent opening weekend.
The movie saw a good response in Rajasthan, UP and central India, but couldn’t attract expected footfalls in Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab.
'Phata Poster Nikhla Hero' movie review
One of the reasons could be the good run of the last week’s release Grand Masti. The film has galloped close to the Rs. 70 crore net mark in its eight-day’s run so far. The 100 crore milestone looks a possibility, but we’ll have to wait and watch.
The other release of this week, The Lunchbox, fared well at the multiplexes and collected around Rs. 1.25 crore net on the opening day, despite it being an arthouse film with Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur in leading roles. The word of mouth and reports are terrific and we expect the film’s business to grow over the weekend. byy..apun ka choice. |
