UNSTOPPABLE DEEPIKA!

Step aside Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor. The Deepika Padukonejuggernaut is on a roll and it’s squashing everything in its path.
Just how much is too much? Don’t ask that to the dishy Deepika who’s had a roaring 2013 so far and is still not done. Her January release Race 2 grossed 100.45 crore net at the box office. May brought an added cheer with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani minting a whopping Rs. 188.57 crore. And now Chennai Express has scorched all previous box office records and written history with Rs. 211 crore net and still counting.
Just add the numbers up and you get Rs. 500.02 crore worth of business that Deepika’s 2013 releases have done so far. No other actress, not even Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor, venture anywhere close.
While Katrina Kaif hasn’t had any release this year, she had two big ones in 2012: Ek Tha Tiger(Rs. 198.78 crore) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (Rs. 120.85 crore). The total comes just a little under Rs. 320 crore, way below Deepika’s 500 crore mark.
Kareena Kapoor ranks still below with Rs. 263.15 crore of cumulative collection from Bodyguardand Ra.One in 2011.
And let’s not forget that Deepika Padukone is still looking ahead at her fourth release of 2013, theSanjay Leela Bhansali directed Ram Leela. If that movie, co-starring Ranveer Singh, enters 100 crore club, that would make it a Rs. 600 crore year for Deepika Padukone. from apun ka choice. |
